Kunekune Pigs

Here you will see some of Ebryl's family of 8 piglets. These were born on 1st July 2011, 5 girls and 3 boys. They have become great time wasters on our smallholding.  These wonderful creatures are definitely pets and not for pork! The Kunekune pig is a registered rare breed originating from New Zealand with only 7 bloodlines worldwide. They have a wonderful temperament and, as with all pigs, are extremely intelligent and very sociable animals. We have two adult sows, Ebryl (Cornish for April) and Tegan (Cornish for Pretty Little Thing). They were born in March 2009 and are a huge hit with all our guests.

They like nothing better than to greet our guests on their arrival and will sit very obediently as long as there is a slice of apple or a carrot as a reward for their efforts. Strawberries, grapes, banana and slices of pineapple are also on their list of favourite foods. They get particularly excited when we have left over apply pulp after making jellies. Very messy! As they have over 5 acres to roam around, we use a referees whistle to call them as their hearing isn't that great.

They have come in all colours, and as you will see from the videos, extremely playful.

Rest time is an informal affair!
